You don’t think that is what socialism means? It’s certainly not advocating for free markets. It’s massively big government.

When you talk to Libs about Socialism its a different beast though.
All of those things are examples of Socialistic programs but pure Socialism means the Government controls the means of production for all industry. And I don’t hear a lot of Liberals talking about that at all.
Heck, stop lights and sewers are socialistic when you think of it. Running miles of electric wire or roads to farms is socialism since it doesn’t really serve that many people for the cost it entails. But we do it because everyone should have essential services.
When it benefits the country and the economy to do “Big Things”, meaning if a program pays for itself in the long run and benefits the economy overall it should be done. Private entities and charities cannot replace the buying power and logistic abilities of a centralized government, that is what it is there for.
So, when we needed educated kids, we made it so everyone got a HS education. The economy has changed and college or vocational training is needed, so we should provide that as well.
Sick people can’t work, insurance for everyone allows for wage growth, competition for the best workers, and lower overall costs. Good for the economy, a big need, and thus we should do this.
But that doesn’t make it “Socialism” if the programs prop up our Capitalist economy and make it stronger.

I guess I don’t understand how it works, since I thought things that were secret were compartmentalized on a need to know basis. Are we saying these people still have access to classified material? And further, people are in the thread saying they wouldn’t get or keep the private sector jobs they have now if they lost access? Because that sounds a lot like they are sharing classified material with their employers for personal gain.
It was my understanding that while they may retain their clearance, they weren’t given classified information after they left their government jobs.

If you’re going to get upset at people misusing the word fascism to describe those (at least nominally) on your side, you can’t turn around and equally misuse the word socialism to describe those on the other side.

You are correct about the compartmentalization. They’re not getting briefings after they leave the government.
But there are thousands of private sector jobs (that retired intelligence tend to go into) that also require clearance, because they’re under contract with the government.

There are a lot of jobs outside government proper where you need to have access to certain government data to do your job. I can think of a lot of fields where that would apply - defense contracting, security, etc.
If you are not smart enough to understand why MSM would lie about people who are trying to get money out of politics calling them socialist then there is no hope for you as you know nothing about politics.
They want to do far, far more than just 'get money out of politics". And you accuse me of knowing nothing.
