Trump imposes $100K fee for new H1B Visa Applications (Looks like a tariff on importing cheap labor)

Trump is putting a $100K fee on all new H1B visa applications. That foreign recruited tech employee doesn’t look so good when you have to pay his salary, other recruiting expenses and $100,000.00.

So what do we think of this “tariff?”

“Just illegal immigration.”

Didn’t realize that illegal immigrants had visas. Good to know.

They don’t. Kind of the point of the sarcasm.

It’s time for The Miller to go on tv and admit that it’s all immigration. He needs to admit that the move to denaturalization and this are ways to limit all immigration

They can make it a regular show where he admits his actual goal. They can even sponsor it.

I actually like this proposal. I would think US labor will like it also.

Seems to me I keep reading about how hard it is for recent college grads to find jobs in their field.

It should be $200,000 and this was way overdue.
This is actually the stuff I like Trump for when he does stuff like this, that he campaigned on

“Aimed at high-skilled workers: The administration stated the fee is intended to ensure that companies hire highly skilled, highly paid individuals and to encourage the training of American workers.“

Administration had to put out a clarification that it only applies to new applicants. People who already have H1B status or have filed for one prior to this notice are not affected.

In addition there are carve outs available on discretion. Probably the medical field will be a large beneficiary of this.

Where does the money go?

Somehow I feel the money will somehow end up the fuel tank of an MRAP.

It would not hurt anything . . . . .except fraudulent use of the H1-B
If a hospital needs to import a new doctor, paying 5 months salary as a fee will not stop them.

It’s a great plan, but it would be better,
more market-based
if he auctioned them off (low bid would be $100k)

This is one of the few areas I actually have experience talking on in here working for fortune 100 company in IT. It’s beyond g abused
