Trump administration offering buyouts to nearly all federal workers

tough ■■■■■ you should have no problem listing the pre covid remote jobs being affected.

That’s the whole problem from the libs viewpoint.

They Never want to downsize government but are always looking to make it bigger.

I cannot find anyone who advocates government need to be bigger and less efficient or continue to spend excessively.

What most on the left do not want is just a slash and burn approach. Its getting the balance between not endlessly discussing without making change and making change that works.

Trump is great at making it look like he is making change but EO can only do so much.

That’s not what this is. It has been successfully deployed in the private sector.

They were warned in November.

What? That’s not true at all.

Now you want individualism?

But it has not been a reasoned tactical approach. Do you think that any business in the private sector just wakes up one morning and sends out an email across the board with reply resign if you want to take advantage of a buy out. And just hopes it works out that they do not end up with all their top talent leaving or being woefully understaffed in any given area.

Always successfully? I didn’t say you said always that’s why i am asking.

Compare to the OPM email.

Back when I was working some ten years ago, I had two good engineers (Feds) on staff who wanted to follow their spouses - one transferred from a federal job in MD to GA, the other joining a medical practice in NC. I got the powers that be to buy off on their working remotely (with periodic visits back to the office in DC), and they’re still working remotely ten years later and by all accounts (I keep in touch with my successor) doing a great job remotely. Yeah, it’s more work ensuring accountability as a manager remotely, but it would suck to lose them considering there likely wouldn’t be any backfill in the foreseeable future.

All long before COVID.

Define successfully. They did it twice at my company and it is still thriving.

Beyond that, I haven’t a clue.

Yep!

They are nothing alike!

LOL, this is from the FAQ for the buyout offer.

We have received a number of questions regarding the deferred resignation program. Below are our top FAQs:

Q:Am I expected to work at my government job during the deferred resignation period?

A:No.

Q:Am I allowed to get a second job during the deferred resignation period?

A:Absolutely! We encourage you to find a job in the private sector as soon as you would like to do so. The way to greater American prosperity is encouraging people to move from lower productivity jobs in the public sector to higher productivity jobs in the private sector.

Q:Will I really get my full pay and benefits during the entire period through September 30, even if I get a second job?

A:Yes. You will also accrue further personal leave days, vacation days, etc. and be paid out for unused leave at your final resignation date.

Q:Can I take an extended vacation while on administrative leave?

A:You are most welcome stay at home and relax or to travel to your dream destination. Whatever you would like.

Reminder that the deferred resignation program is available until Thursday, February 6.

Everybody good with Musk’s plan to pay for 8 months of no work with taxpayer dollars? I hope that absolutely no one does this. It reads like a scam, employees who received it treated it as a phishing attempt.

Along with this bit of chefs kiss

Do you have a point that you are trying to make?

It does read like a scam email. :grinning:.

My employer did something similar several years ago (pre covid) but it was targeted at low performers in certain areas. From what I recall it had a very low take up.

and you have no idea whether those jobs are in jeopardy, you’re assuming

Nope. But like I said it is none of your business. Now move on.
