In California a republican won a seat that was in democrats control since 98.

I believe that The democrats just made in person voting illegal in California. The Russia hoax proves that the dems are not opposed to election tampering. This just makes it easier. This seat may turn again soon.

Wrong, try in Democrats control since January 3rd, 2019. 2 different Republicans held the seat from 1992-2018

why would the federal government bail out state governments, don’t they have taxing authority?

They do indeed. All this would do is take from states that can control their spending and hand it over to states that have no control on spending.

I think the confusion here (and I could be wrong) was that Republicans haven’t turned a seat Red that was blue since 1998. While it’s encouraging that he won, it’s not a sign of California moving from Blue to Red, though I can’t understand how they keep failing and just keep voting more Democrat… Doesn’t matter to me, it’s why we keep getting corporations to move to Texas.
