To be fair. Now a little insanity from NYC

NYC is on the verge of making it a requirement to pay a high school junior, 30 bucks per hour to make your filet-O-Fish. No word on what that fishy will cost you. Yikes!

…and now wait until you see who NYCers voted in as mayor. The leftist insanity continues…

I desperately want to respond, but I wouldn’t even know where to begin.

It’s the same reference as his.

Who did they vote in as mayor?

:ear:

Verge has a specific meaning. Otherwise i love the use for dramatic effect.

This is never happening for about 30 reasons. Though not per hour.

By reading up on what’s actually happening

The islamist Dem nominee is all for the $30 minwage.

And price freezes on rents. And free busses. And city-owned grocery chain (and warehousing and distribution business) that would undercut commercial groceries because they wouldn’t be charged rent or pay taxes. And city-owned low-income housing, 100,000 units. And it would all get paid for by taxing the rich.

That is stupidly high.

Nor for long.

The rest will just leave town.

Many already did.

Utopia, dontchaknow.

Real people have already shown that they will leave. More will follow as the discomforts increase.

For those interested.

Mamdani’s labor platform calls for additional collective bargaining laws with better wages and working conditions across industries, like the current New York City fast food wage law that sets a minimum wage at $16.50 an hour, higher than the state’s minimum of $15.50. Mamdani also said he supports a new local law that would bring New York City’s minimum wage to $30 an hour by 2030.

It’s heart warming that cons care so much about NYC now.

Thought y’all wanted higher wages?

You know the justification for using tariffs to build up industries here. Or the justification of deporting illegals, at which point American demand a higher wage and take those jobs.

Setting a minimum wage is different than being forced to pay higher wages because no one would work for less.

I’m not in a super HCOL area like NYC or SF but fast food places still pay $20. In some Googling, app based delivery workers get $21.44 in NYC Mayor Adams Announces Full Minimum pay Rate for App-Based Restaurant Delivery Workers is now in Effe | City of New York and thats outside of tips. NYC is just that bonkers in prices.

Even if we artificially reduce the workforce via deportations and tariffs?

I’m just saying there is a difference. Raising the min. wage and paying people twice what they’re willing to work for goes against the natural order of things. Commanding a higher wage is how it should be. Americans will work fast food for dirt cheap. They’ve done it for years.

Why are you here posting? You’re supposed to be helping your mayor clean up the “sanctuary city” that she/you allowed to be destroyed by illegal aliens.

It was my sarcastic way of taking a pass.

He’s a communist. This is basically Moscow in the 1980’s. What as we all know, was a worker’s paradise! It was so great, they had to build walls and make it illegal to leave.
