This seems to becoming a more common theme at the Jersey shore

I know there were a number of incidents last year and I believe the year before as well:

And the summer is just getting started! America’s youth at their finest!

@Gaius is that your town? or are you Wildwood?

Jersey shore has been like this since the 80s

Yes,

and I trying my best to keep the Wild in Wildwood,

I dunno about this particular weekend,
but some towns around us (years past) have had serious problems with too many kids causing too much ruckus

So once in a while the local cops overreact and shut down things that shouldn’t be shut down.

Usually
it is a complete an total over-reaction . . . intended to pre-emptively prevent things that actually did get out of hand elsewhere.

Alcohol and nice weather is always a bad combination.

Visit England on a bank holiday weekend when the sun is shining and you will see the streets thronging with pissed up groups of young and old adults. Yeah I dont really miss that too much.

Anyway the Jersey shore has two major parts.

Atlantic City is the dividing line.
AC and eveything north of it are like a separate world.
Much more urban, much more NY and less Philly.

New Brunswick is a great town.

I grew up in the shadow of Penn State (which is like a bubble world surrounded by dairy farms), New Bunswick is more attached than that, but still much less urban than say . . . U Penn or Temple (downtown Philly.)

Much of LBI, Bayhead, Deal and some other N.NJ shore towns are very sparse and mellow.

Right and in your mind there is only one NY
(As if, upstate is the same as NYC)

Only one Illinois
(As if, Chicago, cornfields . . . what’s the difference?)

There is only one California.
(As if, visitors to South Central, Disneyland, The Malibu beaches and and Silicon Valley all report the exact same experience.)

electorally college speaking, there is only one new york.

an upstate vote counts exactly the same as a downstate vote.

Allan

Geee Barbie are we at your beach house? or in Disneyland or In Silicon Valley? I can’t tell the difference.

(Hint: If you see this you are NOT near Yosemite and not near the Redwood forest.)

there are different shore towns with different vibes.

point pleasant is not the same as loveladies.duh.

Allan

it is all the same shore however.

Jersey shore as a geographic location is one place. It’s a completely different place in everyday parlance. That’s all.
