Let’s just forget that logging and other land uses have have already cleared from 30-90% of forest depending on classification (virgin, old growth, etc…) in North America.
But no… it’s “environmentalist whackos” fault that there is 10% left for pine beetles to decimate.
And who knows how North America managed for millions of years without all this logging…
And the natural fires also have been a pendulum effect. For years the do aggressive fire supression, then it swings the other way and they let everything burn. Pendulum is swinging back to the jump on every lightning strike and put it out fast.
Incorrect. He said one good fire and the whole thing would burn down.
You said that’s the way it always been.
It hasn’t. That’s the way it’s become since we started trying to manage the forest better than nature.
Were you aware that the parks service was on the verge of killing the redwoods by putting out the fires there?
The scrub was choking out the trees, and there was no new trees because they didn’t realize that redwoods only drop seeds when a fire is burning. The heat is what causes their cones to open and clears out the scrub for the seeds to take root.
