The last time I watched a Superbowl was XXXIII. I was a big Elway and Bronco fan. When Elway retired, I quickly lost interest in football, and I haven’t watched a Superbowl since.
A bunch of teams won 2 super bowls in a row, but how close did they get to 3?
The Chiefs are the first to get to the SB after already winning two of them.
Before that only three teams made it to the conference championship game after winning two super bowls. All 3 lost that game. Cowboys, 49ers, and Steelers.
Exactly. And the chances are very high that this opportunity that the Chiefs have may not be repeated again for decades, if ever. And if they win, seeing them win number three in a row would be a memory of a lifetime regardless of whether you want them to win or not.
No teams are more deserving of being there in this particular SB. I do think Philly got lucky that Washington knocked off Detroit. Stuff like that happens. I’ll be the first to admit that my Cowboys don’t win super bowl XXX if the Packers don’t knock off the 49ers.
My problem is not who is more deserving. I’m sick of the chiefs. Just like people got sick of the Patriots. I certainly don’t want to see another KC/Eagles or KC/49ers super bowl. Unless you’re a fan of those teams, it gets boring.
So … They are too good for you? Odd. Most people love winners (like the Steelers, Raiders, 49ers, and Patriots, etc., in their respective hay days) even when they have no personal reason to root for them.
The worst thing about football fanatics is when they talk about their favorite team as “we”. That alone was probably enough over the years to keep me uninterested.
