The Running Man (2025 Movie)

I saw the 2025 version of The Running Man Saturday, and it was entertaining.

I enjoyed the action scenes in the picture, and I liked Glen Powell’s performance as well.

It’s a good movie but, with that being said, I much prefer the Arnold Schwarzenegger’s version.

I give this movie a grade of an B.

ENJOY!

The original was way better, but this wasn’t horrible.

I called it empty calories for the mind.

And of course the novella is absolutely brilliant.

Way better than either movie

This latest movie with Powell was much truer to the King novella than the Arnie version was.

Almost to the letter.

Seeing it tonight, but I thought that’s what I remembered about the book.

The Schwarzenegger version was done as more of an American Gladiators.

And of course to some degree it, along with The Long Walk, inspired The Hunger Games franchise.

Dont forget the influence of the novel and subsequent movie Battle Royale.

I was unfamiliar with that title. I may have to check it out at some point, and your answer here may be a big factor in whether or not I do… Is it as brutal and awful (humanly degrading) as the description implies??

It’s bad enough for the teenagers in The Hunger Games and The Long Walk, but I don’t think I can handle 9-year olds with explosive collars??

I know this is as also a B movie. I remembered when it was announced, they would do a remake. I was like this will be as popular as the total recall remake. There’s a lot of these old Arnold movies that are not really good, but I had a certain charisma because of Arnold in them.

Commando is the bomb. I never get tired of seeing the same bad guy extra get killed in multiple different scenee

Ya I love it to I also liked the running man but I am not sure how they would do as a remake as their overall stories imho don’t exist any people went to see it to watch Arnold wreck the place, not for the story.

They are a few outliers like Twins and True Lies and others but mostly for as mindless action with huge biceps from and odd accent that drew the crowd.

I mean dude think about it. They have literally made nine predator movies and I Willis bet eight of them sucked.

The new one is closer to the book. I like both movies for different reasons.

Running Man was hunger games before there was hunger games. The book is nothing like the Arnold representation. It’s about self sacrifice for the greater good.
