The border situation will change. Maybe not as promised (who really believes any politician’s promises) but to the degree that we can see the difference.
Most people can’t tell you what they paid for groceries a year ago, they just know it’s more because they notice how much it changes from week to week. As long as the price increases slow way down, most people won’t complain too much. Nobody honestly believes they will go down to what they were even a year ago.
So we are already moving the goalposts. Trump now will not reduce prices but just slow the increase

No. That’s where the goalposts have always been. Politicians exaggerate their promises. The people know that.
Prices never go down unless technology and/or competition improves or supply exceeds demand. Groceries don’t fit into either category. Maybe some people are dumb enough to think that grocery prices will deflate, but most know that inflation is forever.
