If Federal income tax was the only tax…
wait its not.

cost would depend on how well the government negotiate prices I doubt prices would magically drop since thing rarely get cheaper.
You live in Canada
Pay them more so we can take it away from them!
Quoted that wall of text for that.
Chasing somebody else’s outcome. That is unsustainable. Real logicy.
Worse Infant mortality, maternal mortality, cancer survival rates, and between 20,000 and 40,000 dying prematurely a year as a result of not having access to care.
I think Adroit discussed wait times because conservatives typically run to that argument when faced with comparisons between US healthcare systems and foreign ones.

Indeed. Additionally, the fact that so many forego care because of cost can’t be overlooked. The best quality of care in the world (which we don’t have) is useless to the large percentage of people who don’t have access to it.
Jezcoe:
Yes… it will cost a lot of money… but health care is going to cost a lot of money anyway. What is shown over and over is that comparable care is less expensive when taken out of the free market.
Pick a state with a high population and try it there first. See how it works out. California comes to mind.
Wasn’t California going to some sort of single payer till they figured out it would bankrupt them?
adroit:
I can pick a number of countries with populations similar or greater than California where it works: France, UK, Germany, Japan and Canada.
Then there should be no problem. My point was to do this to determine how much it costs in taxes. Can you use those four countries you’ve mentioned to determine tax rates in California? If not then bringing them up is pointless. My suggestion was to determine how much it costs here in the US, not those 4 countries.
When I take into account the cost of my health insurance i pay more out of my paycheck here in the US than I did in the UK.
The UK has a separate National Insurance contribution but that was lower than the cost my health insurance premium.
Quality of care in my experience is the same in both the UK and US.
Yes its being ignored here, the richest state in the country couldn’t do it and under Obamacare they legally could.

The state’s ambitious bid to establish a single-payer health care system has a hefty price tag.

California’s single-payer plan costs $400 billion — twice the state’s entire budget - Vox
I am not ignoring it.
California residents likely would be paying less per capita in health costs, but tax hikes are a hard sell no matter where you are.
If that article is right, and it’s Vox a pretty far left organization the plan would cost twice the states entire budget, how is that feasible?

By raising taxes.
No such thing as a free lunch…
It’s odd because the left once thought the population should be kept low, but You need to have an ever increasing population to pay for each generations needs.
Just like our SS system. They don’t even bother raising taxes to pay for it because’s it’a already over 15%of payroll. So, we just borrow so no one notices it’s SS and medicare causing all the debt…

Californians are already paying the price in inferior healthcare through the current system. That money needs to be tapped for the single payer.

Population control was not a left/right issue. I mean seriously. It’s really quite amazing how much history rewriting is needed to make a point apparently.

Causing All the debt? Eh… even better
