I think Adroit discussed wait times because conservatives typically run to that argument when faced with comparisons between US healthcare systems and foreign ones.

Indeed. Additionally, the fact that so many forego care because of cost can’t be overlooked. The best quality of care in the world (which we don’t have) is useless to the large percentage of people who don’t have access to it.
Wasn’t California going to some sort of single payer till they figured out it would bankrupt them?

I can pick a number of countries with populations similar or greater than California where it works: France, UK, Germany, Japan and Canada.
Then there should be no problem. My point was to do this to determine how much it costs in taxes. Can you use those four countries you’ve mentioned to determine tax rates in California? If not then bringing them up is pointless. My suggestion was to determine how much it costs here in the US, not those 4 countries.
When I take into account the cost of my health insurance i pay more out of my paycheck here in the US than I did in the UK.
The UK has a separate National Insurance contribution but that was lower than the cost my health insurance premium.
Quality of care in my experience is the same in both the UK and US.
Yes its being ignored here, the richest state in the country couldn’t do it and under Obamacare they legally could.

California residents likely would be paying less per capita in health costs, but tax hikes are a hard sell no matter where you are.
If that article is right, and it’s Vox a pretty far left organization the plan would cost twice the states entire budget, how is that feasible?
