Looks like a couple of folks have thrown their hat in the ring- Scalise and Jordan. Some chatter about Trump but that seems highly unlikely. The real problem is that there is still a rule in place that allows for one individual to call to vacate the Speaker chair.
That means a few folks control the House GOP. They can’t get rid of the rule so they are stuck with electing someone who could be deposed by a tiny fraction of their caucus.
…
Rep. Dusty Johnson (R-SD) is a frustrated member of the House of Representatives, and he unleashed a stream of insults aimed at the far-right faction of his own party following the ouster of former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) on CNN on Thursday.
“I’m not with anybody yet. I think we’ve got a lot of questions we need these candidates to answer, in part because if we don’t change the foundational problems within our conference, it’s just going to be the same stupid clown car with a different driver. And, you know, Max Miller had mentioned Matt Gaetz earlier in Manu [Raju’s] report. I’m glad he did it, because the reality is, if Jim Jordan and Steve Scalise can’t figure out how to deal with that saboteur, we’re just going to have another blowout, whether it’s two weeks or six weeks or eight weeks. You know, Matt Gaetz and those hardliners, they’re a real problem. And I don’t think the pyromaniacs are going to be satisfied after they’ve burned down one house. I think they’re going to have an itching to go burn down a couple more.”
…or Americans who love their country want our laws enforced and a speaker who will help enforce them. Is that asking too much? McCarthy wasn’t doing it…so…bye Felicia. Hopefully both Jordan or Scalise have the guts to do it, even if those with the money don’t?
As much as I agree that this is totally self-inflicted and an amusing clown show, I still want our government to function with some degree of competence.
And when jordan or whoever is speaker has to work with the dems, will they be RINOs? The fact is with such a slim majority the speaker needs to be able to work with all sides.
Honestly, who in their right mind would want the job? The GOP has a razor thin majority, and the Clown Caucus is making it impossible for them to even fulfill their constitutional duties. You’d have to go into the job knowing you’d have to keep a close eye on your blood pressure.
Anyone who is not enforcing our laws, is against this nation and what I stand against and it doesn’t matter which side of the political aisle you stand. What I don’t understand is why ALL of us are not united in wanting our laws enforced? Can you explain it?
Also interesting is Rule 26 of the GOP’s conference. It states:
“A member of the Republican Leadership shall step aside if indicted for a felony for which a sentence of two or more years imprisonment may be imposed.”
Trump is currently indicted in a handful of different cases and facing over 90 felony charges, many of which can carry sentences far greater than two years. So how exactly does that work?
January 6th? What about it? Oh yeah…5 police officers were murdered by Trump supporters, one with a fire extinguisher. Is that it? How about it was the most violent INSURRECTION in our nation’s history? Is that it? Maybe it’s the horned guy that was being escorted around by police officers…is that it? If that was true, should they have brought guns to fight those that were there who were fully armed? What the ■■■■ happened on January 6th that it deserves years of coverage and our nation’s attention? The ONLY person that died that day was murdered by a piece of ■■■■ cop who was hiding off to the side, waiting and shot an unarmed, 115 lb female that posed little to NO THREAT…all while armed guards protecting where she entered but walked away from their duty only 30 seconds prior. Don’t look now but you’ve been sheoplized and are regurgibleating the nonsense you were fed.
"Anyone who is not enforcing our laws, is against this nation and what I stand against and it doesn’t matter which side of the political aisle you stand. What I don’t understand is why ALL of us are not united in wanting our laws enforced? "
Point being, your words above are without merit because your idea of legal vs illegal doesn’t actually seem predicated on the rule of law but rather your own perceived injustices.
