Good to see Mr. Colbert land on his feet. ![]()
That is a perfect customer smile.
Colbert will go on some premium pay service (HBO, Netflix, or Amazon) and just get cash from the premium services, since premium pay is for elitists, and Americans are fed up.
CBS affiliates are giddy and can’t wait to get rid of Colbert. Imagine 60 to 90 minute 11 PM newscasts on Friday nights (football) and Tuesday nights (basketball) seasons where high school sports scores and interviews will take up a full 60 minute broadcast. Fox affiliates, which have 10 PM news, get 60 minutes on Fridays with 40 minutes for scores. But some games are still going on at the time.
Here’s what I predict from a CBS affiliate After Colbert:
10:59 News opening
11:14 Weather
11:20 High School Sports Report with interviews
11:55 Big Ten Game of the Week Preview
11:59 Sign-off
It’s not even that. Over the air TV networks have been bleeding viewership over the years.
When Gutfeld (fox news, a cable network product) gets double the rating of a free tv show like Colbert, you know thins at the major networks are in a truly bad spot.
Network TV is terrible. Have not watched it in years. Anything of any quality will get shown on Hulu or the networks streaming service.
That equates to what I said.
I subscribe to cable for my wife. It’s been years since I watched anything even remotely resembling network TV. All of my viewing is from the streaming services.
I am getting ready to get rid of my cable. I watch youtube mostly. Regular everyday people are producing much better content than what these hollywood elites have been doing.
You are claiming it’s the leftist content.
Truth is, it could have been Rush Limbaugh and people would have left.
There is like 50 over the air TV networks, plus over 500 networks on cable TV.
With those kinds of choices available to almost anyone, it’s inevitable the networks would lose viewers.
They can’t even make right wing TV work; how many networks has the TV show ‘Last Man Standing’ been on now?
Even ‘The Conners’ is now getting cancelled.
They are in a mess, and it’s due to intense competition.
No I didn’t. I said “content” not leftist content. The content of his show does not appeal to enough people to make advertiser sponsorship profitable. All television shows live and die on viewer ratings. You and I are saying the same thing.
Rather than start a new thread, I think I just want to bump this up instead.
Maybe, but more importantly, what drives a person who thinks Trump is a fascist to flee to a country run by an actual fascist?
Seriously, go look it up, it’s the punch line to all of this.
How do you say “hasta luego” in Italian? ![]()
If Fox is smart, they’d move Gutfeld to their local affiliates as a late-night show. Make it run after their 60 (or 90 for Tuesday/Friday Prep Sports Highlights) minute newscasts. Then it would show material is the problem!
It appears the two of them (Colbert and Stewart) are teaming upon a new media product. That will be comedy gold.
Seth Meyers runs the NBC late show from the exact same blueprint used by Carson, Leno, O’Brien before him.
Where is his big ratings?
The problem isn’t the content; it’s the environment network TV now functions in. People simply have more choices than ever.
Can any of the forum liberals on this board tell me with a straight fact they actually watch this show more than 3 times in the last year? I’d be shocked if any of them did.
More likely it will be a continuation of partisan content dressed up as faux comedy. Like all fools gold, it won’t pay any bills.
I’m surprised Stewart would lower himself to join into such an association. He’s orders of magnitude better than Colbert.
They both paid a lot of bills with this “fools gold” over the years.
Right up until they became over the top political. As the saying goes, past results are no guarantee of future performance.
