lol, what? She’s not a communist, she’s a democratic socialist. She’s not anti-American, an anti-Semite, or anti-white. Heck, her boyfriend is a white American.
They aren’t stopping them. They haven’t said a single thing about stopping anyone from continuing to spread disinformation.
They don’t need a license. They don’t need to meet any standards. Anyone could write anything. That’s not at all what a professional journalist license means. It’s not a new discussion. It’s been going on for years…decades.
Why can’t people look into things before making stuff up to fulfill their fantasies or fears?
Do you remember that right wing gay dude named Milo Yiannopoulus? I remember before he was ostracized and cancelled people on his side when he was accused of racism would say “But he’s married to a black man” and the response was literally that is common with racists it’s so they can dominate and suppress their partner.
I didn’t really understand that theory I thought it was ridiculous but hey if it works for one.

You have quotes from AOC calling for a commission to stop the spread of disinformation? You have any quotes at all from AOC beyond what was in the OP article?
She has been race baiting since she got in office talking about programs needed to be introduced to help reduce racism it’s the same race baiting that has helped split the US. over the years and her boyfriend who is white the only news I have seen on him is putting out a guideline on how people need to talk.
Before the madness of BLM rioting and burning down cities the U.S. poll after poll was doing better year after year in race relations. The rise of BLM and the squad has been like watching a train pulling into the station victorious and instead of getting out and celebrating the achievements to slam on the accelerator and wildly derail off the tracks.
It would be easier to call out the craziness on all sides Steve King I assume and I hate to use the term was more than likely a racist and removed finally from office. AOC is a nut who in as little as two years has written about the joys of socialism, ending air travel, cow genocide, and the world was going to end in 12 years.
She is like former congressman Alan Grayson but without good ideas or sometimes coming across as practical. Democrats love her though she has a huge following and I don’t want criticize her to much because I don’t think it helps the party as a whole. There is only a certain electorate/places her type of politics are tolerated.

Who knows. Easiest and most likely way is licensing/credentialing. The most difficult and outright unconstitutional way is a federal committee that actively censors journalists and others. If people want to lose sleep over something that will never happen…more power to them.

the commission will be investigating and issuing a report. the report will recommend how to rein them in. reporters already have to be credentialed to get into certain places… no problem there. licensing is a completely different issue and wholly unconstitutional. the government has zero authority to determine who is or is not a journalist and even less to determine standards for licensing one. never mind “reining them in”. this whole concept is chilling.

Nor do journalist have any special rights, restricting their right to speech is identical to restricting any other private citizens speech.
the government has no authority to rein in anyone’s speech. and journalists certainly are afforded protection from liability others do not share. if you want to fix it, strengthen laws governing liability torts to elevate the constitutional right to redress so its at least equal to the constitutional prohibition on press infringement, currently, its not.
I am not awrae of them having any elevated rights. How could they, if the government doesn’t get to say who is and who isn’t a journalist?
