Sigh…here we go again with the definition of socialism… The biggest farce argument about it. Socialism is defined by the communists as the path to communism.
Even if you ignore that, socialism , progressivism, democratic socialism, Marxism, communism, etc. are all on the LEFT.
They all basically are for the same things, & most important, NONE of them are EVER satisfied. When they get their way on one thing, they come up with another thing they just MUST have, & when they get that, they want another.
They NEVER stop progressing leftward. So, they all eventually end up at the same final place. Therefore, there’s no REAL difference.
She’s not bartender ( if you had use “former” then it would be true), not one of the 4 ladies are fellons, none married their brother, no one has declared themselves to be member of the communist party, and they are not running any committee much less the entire dnc.

Here in this post we have run into the crux of the biscuit. The terms “social democrat” and “democratic socialist” are NOT the same at all.
The first would denote a typical American democrat and most DEFINITELY capitalist who believes in a much more generous safety net and all that phrase itself entails. The latter would denote a socialist first who believes in electing leaders/representatives et al to enact and support basically socialist philosophy.
BUT. If the term social is used in any capacity whatsoever, one is automatically branded with a red hot iron (by many on the right) as a socialist/communist lover of tyranny and hater of all that is great in America who kicks puppies and hates gun owners, regardless of one’s actual views.
I am neither, but that is my observation and it has held true for decades.
