Chicago White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf is opened to selling the team to a group headed by former MLB pitcher Dave Stewart, who was lobbying MLB to have a team in Nashville.
It looks like he may get his wish. It’s going to be like Oakland all over again.
A few years ago there was talk of my Orioles moving to Nashville. I don’t agree with either idea.
It’s funny how mlb went from talk of contraction about 6-10 years ago, to talk of expansion again a few years ago.
If Nashville wants a team, they should go the expansion route. Supposedly there is real interest (to some degree) about expansion in Montreal, Nashville, Charlotte or Raleigh/Durham, Mexico City and to lesser degrees Portland, Salt Lake City, San Antonio and Puerto Rico.
The Orioles renewed their stadium agreement after concessions on stadium upgrades. I’ve been to “New Commiskey” but that was almost 30 years ago. They’re probably looking to hold the taxpayers hostage for a new stadium, but to me the White Sox belong in Chicago.
There’s been talk of the Diamondbacks moving out of Arizona. I’ve been to that stadium as well, and it was nice (for a dome). The Diamondbacks are usually a decent team and went to the World Series just last year. BUT they do play in that hell on Earth that is Phoenix (who in the world decided to build a city in the middle of a desert with regular temps in the 115-120 degree range?? . Maybe that would be a better fit.
The Nashville Sounds the AAA affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers compete in the International League.
MLB is “the show” and going to the games whoever you cheer for is expensive. Me personally I like Minor League baseball. Sometimes you get to see a “Big Leaguers” sent down for rehab or a prospect that is a phone call from being called up. The stadiums are fan friendly, concessions reasonable and the experience affordable especially if you’re treating the grandkids.
We have CACTI Park of the Palm Beaches here. It’s the spring training facility of the Houston Astros and Washington Nationals. Great ball
I did not know that. I used to be knee deep into baseball. But that was precisely the time I lost interest in both Baseball and basketball. I’m starting to warm up to baseball again due to the pitch clock. But never again Basketball.
If was a major league player, I’d take less money to play for an expansion team out of Puerto Rico.
The White Sox need new ownership and a new stadium. Chicago has another (much more financially successful) team, so it’s not like the city would be deprived of baseball if they left. Why do you oppose it?
