You know the court didnt say they had to hire a Budhist. They could pick a Budhist reverend of their choice. Guarantee you they could have got one for free.
They do not have a right to clergy in the execution chamber.
Wind your neck in.
Never did.
There’s more to it than that. The priest has to be a state employee to be in the execution chamber.
A better story,
This is nothing but an end around the lawyers are using to stay his execution.
Irony.
Ridiculous.
Some times it seems like the only lives cons pretend to care about are the ones that haven’t been born yet. After that - it’s all me me me.
I can safely say there are zero babies on death row in Texas.
Wrong.
well thats your opinion. and you are most welcome to it.
revenge killing are the worse.
Allan
Convenience killings are much worse. At least there’s heart in revenge killing, a sense of closure. Convenience killings are more in line with selecting a flavor of latte. Whatever is palatable at the moment.
mobulis:Wrong.
well thats your opinion. and you are most welcome to it.
revenge killing are the worse.
Allan
Ridiculous. The worst killings are those of children after rape.
Revenge killings don’t even make the top 100.
Isn’t it just a bureaucratic eye for an eye?

Revenge is a motive, what makes it worse than other motives?
You have something against Christians?
Apparently, Texas has problems with other religions besides christianity.
Here. I’ll help rather than try to catch you in stereotyping Texan Christians, or whatever you think this is about.
How many Buddhists do you think are incarcerated vs Christians vs Muslims in the USA?
Now, does it make sense to hire Buddhist priests in order to have only state personnel in the execution room so this guy can have a priest in the room when he dies?
They hit the high spots, chaplains and clerics, the other religions are just screwed because it doesn’t make sense to provide one given the religious demographics. The SC ruled against them, so rather than hiring a litany of religious priests, they dumped the practice.
Thank you Jesus.
So…you think it’s too hard to find a Buddhist cleric in Texas? And who says these clerics have to be “hired” and on the payroll all the time? Are they executing so many people in Texas that they need full time clerics now?
There’s more to it than that. The priest has to be a state employee to be in the execution chamber.
A better story,
Texas banning chaplains from execution chamber | The Texas Tribune
This is nothing but an end around the lawyers are using to stay his execution.
If they can ban clergy from the execution chamber, they can also make it okay for a non state employee to be in there. But they knew which way they wanted to go.
Isn’t it just a bureaucratic eye for an eye?
Eye for eye yes. I’m not sure I would call it bureaucratic.
They have to be state employed to be in the execution chamber room.
Okay, hyperbole. In that case, I’d say the left’s assault of religion is playing out nicely for them. They just kicked out two forms of it in a state owned facility. Granted, it is only during one activity, but so was a prayer before a big game. With a little stick-to-itiveness, I have a̶l̶l̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶f̶a̶i̶t̶h̶ ̶ great confidence in the left’s ability to completely remove religion from the Texas prison system.
Go state!
It is not the Left that kicked religion out of prisons when there are executions going on. It fascinates me that you blame the Left for this.
They do not have a right to clergy in the execution chamber.
Not any more they don’t…the state of Texas is pouting.
