Iranian President Hassan Rouhani slammed the Trump administration during high-level meetings at the United Nations Wednesday; directly accusing the White House of attempting to “topple” his regime using strict new sanctions.

Rouhani addressed the UN General Assembly this week; saying "It is ironic that the US government does not even conceal its plan for overthrowing the same government it invites to talks.”

"For dialogue to take place, there is no need for a photo opportunity. The two sides can listen to each other right here in this assembly,” he added.

The Trump administration slammed the Islamic Republic’s refusal to cooperate with new demands surrounding its nuclear weapons program this week, accusing Tehran of “supporting terrorism” around the globe.

“We cannot allow the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism to possess the planet’s most dangerous weapons," said the President during his Tuesday address.
