Iranian President Hassan Rouhani slammed the Trump administration Monday after the White House resumed stiff sanctions against the Islamic Republic over their continuing weapons programs; saying the US was creating a “war situation” between the two nations.
According to the Associated Press, Rouhani lashed-out at the Trump administration just hours after Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin unveiled the new penalties.
“Yesterday, Saddam was in front us, today Trump is front of us. There is no difference. We must resist and win,” said Rouhani. “We are in the war situation. We are in the economic war situation. We are confronting a bullying enemy. We have to stand to win.”
The White House announced the series of sanctions months after President Trump withdrew the United States from the Iranian nuclear agreement; an international pact the Commander-in-Chief routinely refers to as the “worst deal” in the history of the country.
