Yes. In the past human societies were much more closely tied to the fortunes of nature. Warm periods, such as the little optimum of the Roman warm period, were always assciated with prosperity. Nature in general would have been doing gangbusters too.
s But cold periods do give us better quality slow growth lumber to make prized musical instruments from, so all the starvation and sickness isn’t everything. /s
and that’s just in our current warm period whcih started about 10K years ago. During the ice age all humans were hunter gathers…So, warming is responsible for our current civilization.
That may not be the case. As now, the vast majority of people have probably lived near water because of the advantages in moving goods or securing food. The best place to find evidence of ancient civilization is along the coasts. But our coasts aren’t their coasts, our coasts are their highlands, or maybe midhighlands. They have found submerged towns that would have likely been antecedents to the Harappan civilization off of the north west coast of India for example.
