Are you kidding? Minnesota to be in charge of the investigations into shootings done by federal agents? This is as stupid as New Yorkers being on a Trump jury! When the governor, Attorney General and the mayor go on television within hours of a shooting incident and pronounce the agents as murderers, before ANY investigation even begins, how can anyone who claims to believe in due process want such blatantly biased officials in charge of an investigation?
At no point did the citizen pull out his legal concealed carry gun, never brandished it, threatened no one, and yet 8 officers surrounded him, pushed him to the ground, took his gun from its holster, then shot him 10 times in the back, as he lay in the street.
I just don’t understand some people. I’m not commenting about the shooting since I can’t see what’s going on. All I see is 5-7 agents fighting with one guy. I’m just wondering why the guy was resisting. I’ve seen something like this play out numerous times, often with similar results.
Are some people just born stupid? I would think most people would consider probable outcomes based on the situation, and act accordingly. In this case, like many others, there was no possibility of walking away. Why are you struggling?
The man ICE killed yesterday did none of those things. We didn’t even hear him cuss in the clear and stabilized videos of his murder from multiple viewpoints.
The thugs are the guys who couldn’t keep their hands to themselves.
And even before then, the guy inserted himself into a troubled situation.
All the prejudgments just inflame the discussion. @Oryx is right when he said:
So many individual decisions went into the final outcome that day. Same with Renee Good. Starting with the decision to jump into the fire.
It’s not just an ICE thing either. Today’s media eye is focused on Minnesota, but it wasn’t long ago that we were getting fed a parade of stories claiming cops abused their powers during basic traffic stops. (And some of them led to shootings too.) And for those, the typical battle lines formed. “Perpetrator-bad” or “Cop-bad”.
Now we have politicians (from both sides) squirting gasoline on the Minnesota bonfire. Everyone’s on edge. And people have lost situational common sense.
