Strict National Gun Control Laws once again Prevent a Mass Shooting... NOT!

Australia bans ownership of semiautomatic rifles. You can only own a gun if you engage in competitive shooting, authorized hunting, or are a licensed and registered collector. Self defense is not an legal purpose for owning a weapon in Australia. Essentially all public spaces are declared gun free zones. But somehow at least 2 shooters, armed with banned semiautomatic rifles, gunned down dozens of unarmed people, killing 11 and wounding dozens more. The attack targeted members of the Australian Jewish community, at an outside public gathering for the first day of the Jewish Hanukkah Holiday. The identities and motives of the killers is a separate discussion. But once again gun laws did nothing to prevent this act of human against human violence. They only made the law abiding victims defenseless.

Almost 30 years of no mass shootings, and then the Religion of Peace came to town.

If strict gun laws don’t stop every shooting, why bother with them at all?

Maybe, or possibly Australian Neo-nazis, one doesn’t know yet. But the point is those policy words on paper just made the victims defenseless targets.

With a name like Naveed Akram, it could very well be a nazi.

That is a good question. A law targeting those who have demonstrated, through their conduct, may have merit. But a law that disarms the responsible and law abiding portion of the population has no moral purpose.

Oh look. Biden border policy at a glance.

Can’t stop all the illegals so why bother. And tear down that wall.

Kinda missing the point in my opinion.

Point is not that there was a shooting in spite of gun control laws.

Point is that once again the target was Jewish people.

But perhaps yhat is a different thread.

Not a discussion of Biden, immigration policy or border security.

The moral purpose is to prevent people being shot to death, in totality. America doesn’t work like that, and it’s accepted for the most part. It’s not accepted in Australia.

Kudos to the local hero who tackled and disarmed one of the shooters while the guy was shooting.

There is nothing but false morality about restricting the law abiding in a utopian quest to create unattainable perfection.

Clearly there are still some real men in Australia.

They’d had 25 mass shootings since 2000.

Here is a list of US mass shootings THIS YEAR ALONE.

I stopped counting around 30.

And not to be outdone, we had one yesterday too.

What if the goal isn’t perfection?

And once again gun control rules created the conditions for a bunch of defenseless law abiding victims at Brown University. You see, Brown University is a “gun free” zone. But feel free to advocate for useless and ineffective policies.

What other goal is there? Emotional gratification by intent over outcome?

Perfection wasn’t obtained. Extreme drastic reduction is gun deaths was.

25 mass shootings in 25 years compared to…I can’t do the math in my head.

The goal is fewer people murdered.
