Star Trek Fan Produced Shows

I have discovered a fair number of fan produced Star Trek shows online, and some are really really good.

Here’s one: The quality of these is superb, and the attention to every detail is outstanding. There sort of pick up where the original series left off.:

Star Trek - Starfleet Academy (The Movie) (1997)

Enjoy those while you can.

CBS/Paramount sucked the joy out of fan films by slapping ridiculous rules on them when Axanar Productions started work on a full-length feature film that looked like it was going to make Discovery look like total crap.

Granted Alec Peters stretched the limits fan films had voluntarily kept themselves to, and actually might have profited from his venture by selling items…but still CBS/Paramount’s reaction was over the top.

Here is Prelude to Axanar to give you a taste what the feature film might have looked like had they let it be done. Now it’ll be two 15 minute self-contained films in keeping with the rules.

We really need to shorten copyright length in this country.

That’s a fan-made film, with actors from the various series?

Yep…many of these productions were so good they attracted participants from the various Star Trek series…who worked for free.

Here’s another one…James Cawley worked from pictures and original blueprints to build elaborate ST sets up in Ticonderoga, NY.

This feature length movie had Alan Ruck, Walter Koenig and Nichelle Nichols in it. Along with a few others from Enterprise, DS9 and Voyager (Gary Graham, Ethan Phillips, Chase Masterson) but playing different characters.

He ended up doing a series called Phase II…imagining what ST Phase II would have been like as a TV series before it morphed into ST The Motion Picture.

Here’s one of his best episodes from that series…imo the best completed fan film episode ever.

It had George Takei and Grace Lee Whitney (who iirc died shortly afterwards).
