It has noting to do with patriotism. Our service men and women in the military are very patriotic.
But the US military command has a history of not being involved in politics.
One exception was the photo-op that Trump did at the church. And he sucked in Esper and Milley.
And they both issued statements that it was wrong.
Milley’s comment was:
“I should not have been there. My presence in that moment and in that environment created a perception of the military involved in domestic politics. … As a commissioned uniformed officer, it was a mistake that I have learned from.”
Exactly right. It is why we have a State Department.
Agreed, in fact it is a chargeable offense under the UCMJ concerning political activities while serving. I know that you can be prosecuted for attending political rallies while in uniform, etc.
Catchy isn’t it? It strikes me as funny and sad. We had a division of the Air Force that watched after what was going on in space. But Trump liked the idea and it cost us taxpayers a bunch of money to create a division that already existed.
" In it, author Matthew Lohmeier provides answers to many important questions that Americans are currently asking: Is systemic racism a reality, or is much of our talk about race merely a rhetorical tool used to divide Americans? Why has the Defense Department suddenly shifted to a focus on extremism within the ranks? Is there really a white supremacy or white nationalist problem within our armed forces? Are the many Diversity and Inclusion trainings that are being conducted in our federal agencies helping solve these problems, or are they creating"
Irresistible Revolution also covers a breadth of hot topics everyone is hearing and talking about - topics that actually have implications for our national security: woke ideology, cancel culture, identity politics, the Black Lives Matter movement, anti-racism, postmodernism, political correctness, and critical and cynical theories "
Doesn’t sound like Marxism is the main focus of the book, …Seems like this guy has some issues with race…Not a good thing for a guy that has to lead troops of all races now is it?
#1 Lohmeir wasn’t fired. He’s still on active duty and drawing a paycheck. (Although that will likely change as I suspect he will be asked to resign his commission.)
#2 The prohibition of military members into the realm of active politics is long standing and currently covered under DOD Directive 1344.10 “Political Activities by Members of the Armed Forces”. Lt. Col Lohmeier ignored standing orders in the military and - shock of shocks - his actions were cause for review and action. Violating the DOD Directive makes him subject to action under the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Options include:
A. Investigate and do nothihng.
B. Investigate and give a reprimand if he agrees not to continue with unauthorized activity.
C. He be allowed to resign under honorable conditions and pursues his next career as an author and/or political commentator.
D. He is charged under the UCMJ Article 15 for non-judicial punishment.
E. He is charged under the UCMJ for Court Martial.
“Lt. Gen. Whiting has initiated a Command Directed Investigation on whether these comments constituted prohibited partisan political activity.”
Lohmeier’s temporary assignment in the wake of his removal was not immediately clear.
“I was apprised of the option to have my book reviewed at the Pentagon’s prepublication and security review prior to release, but was also informed that it was not required,” Lohmeier told Military.com in an email.
It would appear that this whole thing is mostly being scrutinized right now to determine if there’s a problem?
