There are about 250 million adults in the US.
There are about 35 million registered Republicans.
Let’s say a little more than half are MAGA: 18 million.
So it’s more like . . . 7.2%, not half of the country.
Sounds a little low to me.
For context, around 10% of Americans still pose interracial marriage.
5-6% believe the moon landing was faked.
I am happy to entertain alternative explanations.
