Many constituents fed up with clogged phone lines have pressed for town halls back in Pennsylvania for weeks â at a time when House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., has urged lawmakers to skip such events, alleging that âprofessional protestersâ are using the forum to stir up viral shoutdowns.
Saturday in Schenley Plaza, several hundred people gathered, many holding signs that said, âSenators missing,â âTrump: Youâre firedâ and ââHey Fetterman, be a better man. Resign.â Oversize cardboard cutouts of Mr. McCormickâs and Mr. Fettermanâs faces bobbed through the crowd while an inflatable âTrump chickenâ bounced in the wind.

âWe have chased them around town, moved this event each time they moved the event and they finally canceled,â Tracy Baton, director of Indivisible Pittsburgh, said about the postponed Fetterman-McCormick joint gathering. âAnd they canceled because they arenât willing to stand up to their constituents. ⌠You can hear the people behind us chanting, âLiar, liar.â They know when theyâve been lied to.â
Not hard to see why they donât want to be anywhere near the Tesla burning Communists.
