Nearly 70% of the American public supports this bill. Which begs the question, who exactly are the GOP representing when they fight against this legislation?
She never “encouraged” boycotts. While she was sympathetic to those that did, she called for other actions. From her USA Today OP Ed of 3/31 (Before MLB moved the ASG) -
“However, one lesson of boycotts is that the pain of deprivation must be shared to be sustainable. Otherwise, those least resilient bear the brunt of these actions; and in the aftermath, they struggle to access the victory. And boycotts are complicated affairs that require a long-term commitment to action. I have no doubt that voters of color, particularly Black voters, are willing to endure the hardships of boycotts. But I don’t think that’s necessary — yet…
…
I again repeat my admonition from 2019 that leaving us behind won’t save us.So I ask you to bring your business to Georgia and, if you’re already here, stay and fight. Stay and vote.”
No - she encouraged them. So much so that USA Today let her revise an op-ed when the scale of the damage she was causing became apparent. This was the original text:
"Boycotts invariably also cost jobs. To be sustainable, the pain of deprivation must be shared rather than borne by those who are least resilient… I have no doubt that voters of color, particularly Black voters, are willing to endure the hardships of boycotts. But such monetary loss is unlikely to affect the stubborn, frightened Republicans who see voter suppression as their only way to win. Money isn’t quite as seductive as political power to these putative leaders. "
That was NOT from the original text. (Hint … go into your link from faux news and click in the 3rd paragraph where it says “Abrams originally wrote” to bring up the actual 3/30 OP (same as link in my post # 28 above).
Why do you (and faux news) make up ■■■■ about “stubborn, frightened Republicans” and not what she actually said -
“I have no doubt that voters of color, particularly Black voters, are willing to endure the hardships of boycotts but I don’t think that’s necessary — yet…
I ask you to bring your business to Georgia and, if you’re already here, stay and fight. Stay and vote.”
I sort of agree. If republicans would get their heads out of their collective asses and actually govern according to the principles of liberalism, the dems would never win another majority or the White House.
For some reason they can’t or won’t. Even when they get younger blood elected, they get mostly crazy.
It is not really compromise to enter into a deal with a starting point double what you really want and then publicly sacrificing the 50% inflation to settle on the policies you really wanted in the first place.
