You must not be familiar with the Johnstown Flood Tax.
That’s pretty cool; I plan to learn that. Are the supplies hard to find?
New zealand has zero covid restrictions, and a completely open economy and society, save international travel.
Meanwhile, another of my clients lost a parent to covid, and I can’t go to the bar after work tonight.
They sure are dummies over there.
That wasn’t always the case. New zealand had some of the more draconian rules up until now. So did some of the states in Australia.

And when they didn’t need them anymore, they relaxed them.
See how that worked?

Get back to me when PA no longer collects the temporary tax enacted to recover from a 1936 flood.
Or for some reason is that not a valid counterpoint?
Yes that happens…especially with taxes.
The solution is not to throw up one’s hands in an emergency.

What’s stopping that from happening with firearm laws?

When they start banning firearms because of the pandemic, let me know.
Uh huh. And now they are wide open and COVID free.
But hey, at least our Applebee’s are still at 25%!
We average a 9/11 a day 10 months after this thing started but at least we don’t have a mask mandate right?!?!?
Hurray. We lose thousand a day to COVID but at least we don’t have to do things we don’t like. That’s what really matters.
Pathetic.
Here, in our country, our Founders intended ordinary citizens to keep and bear arms [a contemporary fire arm used by foot soldiers] so they would be ready and able to defend themselves against a despotic government if necessary. The AR-15-semi is a civilian version of the United States military’s M16 and ought to be kept by ordinary citizens to defend against a tyrannical government.
JWK
Never forget that our right to keep and bear arms is specifically intended to maintain an armed citizenry capable to defend itself against a despotic government.
Smyrna: westaussie:Jacinda Ardern’s Labour Party government was overwhelmingly returned at their last general election winning 65 seats; the first time a single party had won enough seats to govern alone with their current electoral system. Kiwis supported the actions of the Labour Party government.
Oh…my gosh! Looky who’s here?
Yes…heaven forfend that someone who actually lives in the region under discussion shows up to talk about it.
Common mistake … but New Zealand is not part of Australia.
Samm: altair1013: Samm:"New Zealand’s beleaguered gun owners are bracing for a second round of gun confiscations following a raft of new gun control measures enacted last summer that are set to take effect on February 1. Kiwi shooters will have until August 1 to turn over their prohibited items or face severe criminal penalties.
Well they did vote for this crap.
Did they? The person they voted for was elected before she implemented the first round of confiscation and there has been no new election since then.
They don’t vote person…they vote party.
And the gun law tightening started under the previous PM, who was a member of the same party.
Non-distinction. They knew who the person would be when they voted for the Party.
JayJay: Toll_Collector: tnt:Big dummies with their 2 cases and zero deaths a day. What jerks.
Hey look, if you have no problem being a puppet, have at it. I make sure my dog is well fed and healthy too. Some people don’t mind a leash. I’m ok with that. It just won’t be me.
This idea that temporary measures in an emergency become permenent losses of freedom and should be fought at all costs, even to the detriment of one’s health and the economic health of the country, is a defining feature of Americanism today and a main reason why we suck at emergencies requiring a nationally coordinated response.
Do we still have rationing in the US? Do we still have a draft? Do we still have alien and sedition acts?
Defending freedoms is a good thing. Being fanatically individualistic in all aspects at all times does not lend itself to a higher quality of life for the individual.
I’m sure I’ll be called a sheeple or “rolling over and baring my belly” for such a belief.

Our Income Tax is to pay for the Spanish American War.

Lead isn’t, neither are cases, but primers and powder often are.

What is HB 127 about then?
Do we still have a draft?
Do we still have registration for a draft? Is a draft still on the books?
Do we still have rationing in the US?
Yes, PPE, hand santizer, etc. were all rationed. Was the vaccine rationed?
Do we still have alien and sedition acts?
