4:05 PM ET – Sharyl Attkisson, Host of Sinclair’s Full Measure, on Sundays and author of the New York Times bestsellers “The Smear” & “Stonewalled” discusses the Mueller probe, the report that should be released after this 2 year investigation and the McCabe book tour that has become on air testimony for the disgraced FBI employee. Sharyl has plenty to say about the state of ‘journalism’ as we know it.
A reminder as well about the status of McCabe:
Andrew McCabe’s lawyer, Michael Bromwich, confirms to Fox News that the former Deputy Director of the FBI is still under investigation by the Washington DC US Attorney’s Office.

“We have been in touch with the US Attorney’s Office,” said Bromwich. “[the investigation] is currently underway.”

McCabe was fired from the FBI on March 16, 2018, less than two days before he planned to retire on his 50th birthday and collect a full pension, after the Justice Department’s Office of the Inspector General determined that he misled investigators about the role he had in leaking information to the Wall Street Journal in October 2016 about the investigation into the Clinton Foundation. In April, it was revealed that the Justice Department IG had referred its findings to the U.S. attorney’s office in Washington for possible criminal charges while McCabe is mulling whether to sue the government to get his pension back.
McCabe noted in his interview with MSNBC that Trump’s firing letter was written “long before.”

“So for the president to say today, ‘Oh, we caught him and it’s the result of the IG investigation,’ is just simply contradictory,” McCabe said. (h/t Washington Examiner)

5:05 PM ET – Jonathan Gilliam, Former FBI Agent, Federal Air Marshall, and author of Sheep No More and Danielle McLaughlin an Attorney & Constitutional Expert who co-wrote The Federalist Society: How Conservatives took the Law Back from Liberals, debate the current state of media. What does it mean when the media’s desire to pursue a narrative and ignore the truth is more important that delivering news and information to the public? With the lies that Justin Smollett distributed and the quickness with which the media and celebrities picked it up, there is literally no hope for unbiased, fair media. From the top cop in Chicago, Chicago police Superintendent Eddie Johnson when he spoke at Chicago police headquarters:

Smollett paid two brothers he knew $3,500 to fake the attack in the 300 block of East North Water Street around 2 a.m. Jan. 29, Johnson said, striking him a few times and putting a noose around his neck in front of a camera they erroneously thought caught the act. The superintendent called the scheme “shameful” and wondered how an African-American could set up a racist attack for a “publicity stunt.”

“First, Smollett attempted to gain attention by sending a false letter that relied on racial, homophobic and political language,” Johnson said. “When that didn’t work, Smollett paid $3,500 to stage this attack and drag Chicago’s reputation through he mud in the process. . .This stunt was orchestrated by Smollett because he was dissatisfied with his salary. So he concocted a story about being attacked.”

When investigators figured out the real motive behind the attack, “quite frankly, it pissed everybody off,” Johnson said.

“It’s just despicable,” he said. “It makes you wonder what’s going on in someone’s mind to be able to do something like that… I’m left hanging my head and asking why? Why would anyone, especially an African-American man, use the symbolism of a noose to make false accusations? How could someone look at the hatred and suffering associated with that symbol and see an opportunity to manipulate that symbol to further his own public profile?”

Johnson began his news conference by looking out at the crowded room of reporters at police headquarters and noting, “I just wish that the families of gun violence in this city got this much attention.”
