When and if things change dramatically for the worse in this country, then you can worry about dying from this new virus over the myriads of other things that are likely to kill you first.
The only thing to be taken slightly from their numbers is the number who are infected. That number is almost certainly greatly under reported because they already have determined that some people get such a mild illness that they donât know they are sick or think they have a common illness. That means the death rate is actually lower than what is being reported. And given that the death rate from the seasonal flu is based on exposures, not verified infections, the death rate of the coronavirus is probably not much different than from a particularly virulent flu because in densely populated Chinese cities, quite likely most of the residents have been exposed.
Oh I am wait and see, another week or three should tell the tale. But I am waiting to see how it plays out from governments I can trust to report accurately and China isnât one of them.
Maria tees up the whole âspeculationâ about where this disease really came from and while ignorant herself, goads noted epidemiologist Tom Cotton for his uninformed take, which she does not challenge in any way because sheâs an uninformed non-professional incapable of properly informing her audience during a concerning disease outbreak. Rather than discuss how there is no evidence of this disease being some sort of cooked up Chinese bioweapon, she just rolls with it and lets Tom continue with his trash.
