No idea. Could be as little as a year or less or more than a few years. It really depends on two factors.
- How long Russiaâs economy can keep production of war material up.
- How many casualties can the Russians sustain until they decide a half-win with a winddown is better than killing an entire generation (which theyâve already gotten close to) in a no-win situation.
Much of this is on the Russians to decide. Ukraine just needs to survive.

The Ukrainian army is by far the largest NATO-trained army in Europe, and the enormous stocks of NATO weapons that have been destroyed in Ukraine will take many years to replace.
If US or western European troops experienced the intense artillery and aerial bombardment that Ukrainian conscripts have endured, the likely result would be fragging and mass mutinies. That is what happened in Vietnam under much less extreme circumstances.

That is what happened under similar conditions on the western front in WW1 when blind obedience was still enforced by execution.
One likely outcome is that conventional warfare will come to western Europe. That is a virtual certainty if Tuesdayâs NATO meeting decides to escalate further with more missiles into Russia.

I believe Trump will negotiate a settlement with Russia getting the land buffer it is looking for in Ukraine.
I believe Ukraine will see the writing on the wall regarding waning Western aid. Without that aid, they will eventually fall. That will be their incentive to accept Russian gains.

In terms of raw numbers, probably not. Russia has been on the offensive for most of the war. Generally speaking in warfare, the attacker usually suffers at least three times the casualties of those of the defender.
In terms of percentage of total population, the Ukrainians have probably suffered worse overall. Ukraine not only has its battlefield casualties as a concern, but theyâve lost 8 million people as refugees earlier in war. To be fair, most of those were women and children, but itâs still a huge economic loss.
One hint about Ukrainian casualties is how conscription is working there. They only draft 22-45 year olds. If they were totally at their most desperate position, they would expand that to 18-55 year olds and start drafting women, the levee en masse. They havenât seen fit to do that yet so they must feel comfortable with their current loss to induction rate.
The Ukrainian people make that decision. If they decide to change it, theyâll revolt against Zelensky and the current regime while chanting âpeace at any price.â

The likely outcome is that the US will spend hundreds of billions defending the Ukraineâs border, all while destroying ours. The net result is innocent Americans will be murdered, raped, violently attacked, robbed all while fentanyl deaths increaseâŚnot to mention illegal immigrant children are sex trafficked. The "V"irtuous left thoughâŚis either naive or completely ignorant of this truth because in spite of it, they still voted for their âborder czarâ who helped encourage all of this to happen.
