Interesting development in California. With such a massive economy of their own, Newsom is hiring top minds in Medicine and research, such as former CDC directors and Medical operators to make their own version of the CDC.
They also joined the WHO as an independent party, the only state to do so. Which means they can participate in global health initiatives and crises, even if the actual CDC is incapable of doing so.
I suppose if Conservatives really cared about decentralizing medicine, this would be a very good development, the states are taking control of health care initiatives because the Federal Government has abdicated their responsibility. We can at least get some rational and evidence backed advice about medicine, which will help us make educated decisions about our own medical care.

Nope.
RFK had a really good day today.
First, he led a panel who declared that all therapies outside of counseling for trans youth are to be banned. Including cutting hospitals off of all CMS funds if they participate, which is the death knell for any hospital. This ostensibly kills hormone therapy for children, which I think is an excellent thing.
Next, he got Trump to sign an executive order lowering the classification for marijuana nationwide. Another solid move.
If I criticize his bonehead stuff I gotta give him credit when it’s due, both solid moves.

I disagree, obviously. And let me tell you why. First, if it is a female to male transition, it is incredibly effective and convincing at any age. They grow beards and go bald, for god’s sake. So there is no reason for early therapy.
The onus is on male to female transitions starting early. And the reason why? To transition before effects of puberty hit and the boy becomes more masculine. Thickened shoulders, broader chest, prominent chin, etc.
If you block testosterone before puberty, the transition is much more convincing. The problem? WHO CARES.
A boy changes a lot when puberty hits, they are not the same person. And once puberty concludes they may have an entirely different perspective. Maybe they just grow out of it, maybe they are just gay, it doesn’t matter. The point is, they are gambling that what a 10 year old feels is going to be consistent with what the 18 year old adult feels, and that is just stupid.
If that same patient waits till 18 and then transitions, that is just fine and dandy. They will look more masculine and less “attractive”, but the point is not to be “hot”, the point is to live a life that is genuine to your identity and you can do that as an “ugly” chick. Parents push for earlier care want a more attractive child after transition so it looks more authentic. Again, not a good idea.
The risks are far outweighed by the benefits, get counseling and if, as an adult, the child still wants to pursue transition then I am all for it. But give puberty its chance to shape how the child sees the world and their place in it, gender wise. Too much can change and giving up the possibility of having a child or functional genitalia is so great you have to be 100 percent sure, and a 10 year old is simply incapable of deciding that. Nor are wrongly motivated parents or MDs who specialize in transitioning kids. Of course those MDs favor early intervention, again, they can produce “hot” results. I find all of this monstrous on its face.

Did we censor the Ugly Duckling folk tale? I have seen so many children absolutely blossom into magnificent adults. To ■■■■ with them pre-puberty is horrific.
