Reuters: J&J to invest $2 billion to boost US (NC) manufacturing as drug tariffs loom

The investment is that latest part of a previously announced $13 billion increase ($55b total) in the company’s US investment plans.

As I mentioned in other threads
drug manufacture is one of the many places the US can easily compete.

When manufacture means
“A man pushes a button and a machine spits-out 2 million pills”
it does not really matter if the man makes $2/hour or $35/hour.

Far more money is tied up in taxes, packaging, distribution etc..

you would hope so but there’s a reason so many are made in India and why Trump gave a pharma exception to them in the India tariffs.

Proximity to market.

Over half the world’s population lives in this circle.

India has minimal pharma export to China. There are more costs than machines is what I’m saying. My prediction is that JJ will make new expensive meds here and continue its practices elsewhere.
