Republicans Bring Back Smoke-Filled Rooms on Capitol Hill

Are you still “vaping”?

No, quit when Covid hit. Quitting vaping was far easier then quitting cigarettes, less addicting.

My eldest daughter has stupidly started to vape.

Surprisingly a lot of healthcare workers smoke i have always been amazed at that.

Why? Everyone knows it will kill you, not just medical professionals.

Those whose job it is to deal with consequences of poor lifestyle choices on a daily basis, one would expect to make better decisions.

I always thought about the irony. They go and tell patients not to do what they are doing.

Reminds of the time I had a doctor much fatter than I ever was tell me I needed to lose weight. He was right but I just had to wonder if he saw the irony.

Well this will own the libs for sure. Did Kevin have to promise this to someone in order to be confirmed as speaker?

I heard he bet Hunters laptop wasn’t real and lost.

Trying to stop cold turkey either smoking or drinking is no small task.

Kudos to you for sharing your life experience.

My father smoked 2 packs of cigarettes (Kent) daily and was dead at 64. His health issues first cropping up when I was a teenager made it a lot easier for me to only briefly dabble with smokes in high school and that’s it.

That being said, your point about drinking made me research a bit on DUI’s in Washington DC. After all, smoking and drinking are often a tag team type of thing, more normal combination of vices for many people.

Not much out more recently though. I suppose that’s in large part due to covid-19 including Mrs. Pelosi not requiring her Congressional colleagues to vote in person.

I did find this article dating back to 2019…

Side bar: We did see Mr. Pelosi get slammed twice the 1st one being a DUI charge albeit Paul is an one off (an insider/immediate family member of the former Speaker).

Why should tax payers have to pay to support someone’s nicotine habit?

Oversimplification.

You are talking about a very small amount of money. Plus, would you prefer to have to walk past them smoking outside instead of being sealed in a room away from anyone who objects to smoke?

Getting ventilation tot he exterior of a 200 year old building costs a fortune.

Not in comparison to the federal budget. And not sure it even has to be shunted outside instead of just being filtered out. And if they were allowed to smoke in their offices they should be responsible for restoring/cleaning removal of the smell and damage when they leave.

It definitely has to be vented to the exterior. There is no filter that can handle that odor effectively.

So smokers get to spend my money so they can take a break every 30 minutes and go sit in a room and ■■■■ off?

What room do the non-smokers get to goof off in?

Why do you care? Is it better they spend more time walking outside?

There is a tennis court in the Senate Hart building. Gyms, private dining rooms as well.

Let’s give them a needle exchange and tequila bar too.

Weird hill to die on, but I guess if a lib is against it, you have to be for it.
