Republican congressman quotes Mein Kampf on the house floor to accuse Democrats

Do you care that congressmen are quoting Mein Kampf on the floor?

Not playing that silly game.

Its not a game. Thats why this is a story. And you’ve yet to comment on the person quoting Mein Kampf. This should be an under handed slow mo pitch for you to knock it out. Surely, our representatives quoting Mein Kampf is a bad thing?

i like how this thread has no responses in it. quoting hitler on the floor? Meh…natural reaction i guess.

“In that vein, I quote from another socialist who mastered ‘big lie’ propaganda to maximum, and deadly, effect,” Brooks said on the House floor Monday."

He was quoting from Mein Kampf in such a manner as to condemn the author of that book. Are you against someone condemning Hitler?

He was using Hitler’s words to condemn people in this country who want forms of socialism and the liberal media.

Why cant you just say “our representatives shouldnt be quoting hitler”?

No. I am not against someone condemning Hitler. I am though, against our representatives quoting Hitler’s Mein Kampf to score political points against liberals.

Hilter wasnt a socialist

The fact that he could use that particular quote, without a hint of irony, to accuse his opposition party when he and his ilk support the biggest, most consistent, most outrageous, and most unapologetic liar ever to hold the office of POTUS speaks volumes to his lack of self-awareness.

Hitler and Nazi references are almost always a bad idea. So yeah, it was pretty stupid of this guy to do it. That said, the implication in this thread is that he’s some emboldened closet Nazi because this action is proof of such. I don’t think that’s the case at all.

Again, as long as the false pretense that he was somehow pushing Hitlerian ideas instead of condemning them isn’t used, then yes…I don’t like this.
Its too easy to refer to political leaders being like Hitler or their supporters like “brown shirts” or that their actions remind one of “Germany in the 1930s”. That is a lazy form of attack.
Godwin’s law, I believe it is.

Got it. Didnt realize the republican quoting mein kampf to score points against liberals and the media was the victim here.

He was anything but and I wish the people who keep saying it would crack open a book sometime and educate themselves

But he wasn’t just condemning Nazi ideas.

He was doing exactly what you complain about here:

Let’s agree he’s just another idiot then.
