A bombshell report from the Wall Street Journal published Tuesday reveals a record-breaking “surge” of illegal immigration is taking place along the US-Mexico border, with federal agents confirming the system is at “the breaking point.”

“Arrests of families crossing into the U.S. illegally in the past five months hit a record, prompting the chief of Customs and Border Protection to say the system is at ‘the breaking point,’” reports the WSJ.

“From October through February, border agents arrested 136,150 people traveling in families for crossing the border illegally. The prior record for a 12-month period was 107,212, during the fiscal year that ended in September,” adds the report.

The stunning data comes weeks after President Trump declared a “national emergency” along the US-Mexico border; effectively bypassing Congress to secure funding for his long-promised border wall.
