I don’t want to make sweeping judgments about trans people and I am sure there have been incidents where trans activists have pushed too hard. But what I see is the the conservative movement as a whole pushing anti-trans restrictions as a way to rally their troops who have been back on their heels since the Dobbs decision. There is an organized movement to cast trans people as villains, a role that other disadvantaged people have had to occupy form time to time.
