Predictions for the next four years of a second Trump Presidency

Currently, under the NATO rules for membership, they are ineligible. They have been ineligible since the border dispute began in the Donbas.

Yepp. Countries that could immediately drag NATO into an active war cannot join until the hostilities are over and peace is established.

There will be no national abortion ban. The Dobbs ruling clearly established that the Federal government has no Constitutional authority in that area … that authority belongs to the States. In fact, I believe we are going to see many States that implemented very restrictive abortion laws upon the Dobbs ruling, will either have Courts overturn certain aspects of those laws or the people will pressure (through the ballot box) politicians to relax the restrictions. A significant majority of Americans approve of first trimester abortions being available to women and a large majority want exceptions to save a woman’s life and for cases of rape and/or incest. The society will not support a national ban.

I hope you are right.

No disagreement. I’m pro-life, but I believe the federal government has no role in this area.

Trump was pleased to have had a role in overturning Roe, but he has been very clear that he would veto any national abortion bill (pro or con) because that authority belongs to the States. In theory, following the Dobbs ruling, if a State wanted to, they could enact a law removing all restrictions on abortions. But I don’t think that will happen either.

Personally, given time, I think this issue will eventually end up with abortion on demand being legal up to some point between 12 and 22 weeks with the exceptions I mentioned, in every state.

Do you want Elon Musk in a Trump administration?

It’s pretty wild: He spends a couple hundred million dollars to elect his preferred candidate and then sees the free market reward him with tens of billions of dollars in net worth.

As opposed to Soros?

Most likely it is relief that a continuation of Biden to Harris administration won’t be able to use its legal and administrative power to go after Trump’s interests. He is their perceived enemy and they are not shy of using such power.

Colorado voters just passed a constitutional amendment doing exactly that.

In my opinion, abortion is as serious a human rights violation as slavery.

In the 19th century, half the states wanted it left up to the states. I’m grateful we eventually banned slavery constitutionally at the federal level.

This society is not ready for a constitutional amendment on abortion, but I really hope that our progeny will do it at some point. My hope is that our grandchildren or great grandchildren will look back on this era of abortion the same way we now look at our slavery history.

or they could be like AK and just have no laws

Every time I hear St. Simons I’m reminded of a bad jellyfish sting I got there several years ago.

heartbeat and brainwaves (around 15 weeks) makes the most sense. It’s how we determine if someone is alive after they are born, so why not before.

and that is exactly why abortion will remain an issue of contention in CO. Extremes on either end are not acceptable

Sorry we Europeans can’t afford the la de la attitude the US has towards its own NATO alliances, under Trump.
Said he fell in love with Kim Jong Un, constantly praises Putin, Erdoğan etc.
This changes how the US is perceived in the world. Under Trump the US is allied with countries that were once enemies.
I could understand if the US wanted isolationism but to publicly praise dictators isn’t a neutral position.
Europe and Nato just needs to know what side the US is on.
And thank you very much.

North Korea have sent thousands of troops to fight against Ukraine.
We can’t let these dictators prevail.
Neither the US or Europe believe in invading countries. We must prevail.
