Very good news indeed! Always thought that whole thing was a ripoff. My last home was on sale for one day before getting an offer 10k over asking. What on earth did my agent do to earn 6 percent on the sale? Nothing, she tried to talk me into lowballing the listing because she thought I was asking too much. Turns out she was wrong, she just wanted a fast sale and she still got it.
Selling agents have no incentive to get maximum dollar, you see. At 6% there is little difference between selling a home at 150k and 160k, for instance. Just 600 dollars, but the owner of the home gets 9400 dollars more at 160k. The agent just wants a sure and fast sale, that extra means nothing to them it’s all about volume.
They have way too much of a hold on the process, it is time for a change.
