Police kill armed man at an ICE center in Tacoma

Around 4 a.m., officers responded to an ICE employee’s report of a man armed with a rifle and throwing homemade incendiaries at the building and vehicles in the detention center’s parking lot, as well as attempting to ignite a propane tank, according to Tacoma police. Officers say they saw the man wearing a satchel and holding flares, as well as the rifle . . .

EO Group, which runs the 1,575-bed Northwest Detention Center, in an email to The Associated Press said baseless accusations about how detainees are treated at its facilities "have led to misplaced aggression and a dangerous environment for our employees, whose safety is our top priority. Violence of any kind against our employees and property will not be tolerated. We are thankful for the quick and brave action by the Tacoma Police Department, which prevented innocent lives from being endangered."

Sounds like a possible terrorist attack to me. Perhaps the attacker took calls to “abolish ICE” too literally.

Will the media blame the attack on Trump?

Or are “baseless” claims about poor treatment a factor as claimed by the operator of the center?

Perhaps it’d be best to wait to see what an investigation shows before speculating.

If the guy intended to free - or burn - the detainees inside the building - he chose an incompetent way to go about it.

I don’t think the claims are baseless but it matters not. This guy clearly lost his cookies. It sounds like they had little choice but to take the action they did.

Yes, sometimes mental illness is a big factor as well.

Too early to say much about motive at this point.

We don’t do that here.

For context, local media show that many anti-ICE protests had occurred at the center:

Bad guy only one dead. Good day.

Police identified the alleged attacker as Willem Van Spronsen. According to reports, he is an anarchist who was arrested for assault against a police officer at an anti-ICE protest in June 2018. He later plead guilty to obstructing police.

wonder if anyone will mention (for more that 1 microsecond) that he was antifa

Yes and some Antifa supporters are a praising the attacker as a hero and a martyr.

Another example of “love trumps hate”?

The MSM has been peddling nothing but hate for this administration and division with in this country. They even have gone so far now as to condone the use of violence. This is the predictable outcome.

I have seen multiple things on social media about organizing a group to “break out” the detainees. Sadly, some people get worked up enough to do it.

Yes, some of the reports indicate that friends of the attacker knew that he was planning a suicide attack, yet apparently they did nothing to prevent it.

If someone did anything to support the attack, then they certainly could face charges of conspiracy. There may be more to this story than what has been reported.

Yeah, sadly some people get worked up. Lol.

It was just a matter of time till they got even more violent than they have already been. Rachetting up the violence.

Anarchist you say hmm. I wonder what that says about ANTIFA

Lone gunman

No true anarchist…

Reports say that the attacker was a member of the Puget Sound John Brown Gun Club. Here is what their website says about their name:

Inspired by John Brown.

Our name comes from the abolitionist John Brown, who, in 1859, led a raid on the armory at Harpers Ferry intending to start a slave liberation movement (with support from Harriet Tubman).

While that raid failed, Brown’s actions instilled fear in slave owners, and he was celebrated in the popular Union marching song, “John Brown’s Body.”

“What we need is action!”

It looks the attacker took the gun club’s words to heart.

Here is information on some of the attacker’s twitter supporters:
