They did. It’s not the job of congress to do the commands of the president. It’s the job of congress to represent the people, and congress is representing the will of the majority of Americans by not giving Trump money for the wall that most Americans do not want.

They’ve failed for 40 years.
They tried in 2013, and had a pretty good deal. But radical republicans didn’t want Obama to get a win, so they blocked it from coming to a vote in the House.
But there’s no emergency. If there was, Trump would have declared it the moment he took office. Instead, he waited until it was most politically expedient, and the American people know it. That’s why his approval ratings sank when he shut down the government over this issue.
And apparently you’re now ok with an imbecile breaking the very nature of our supposedly separated powers in order to “succeed.”

No he’s not. If the next president wants to declare a national emergency, it’s within his power to do so. No doors have been opened here. 58 national emergencies have been declared since 1976 31 of which are still enforced.
The only open door is the lefts border policy, but don’t worry, Trump is shutting that door.

The precedent he’s setting is declaring a national emergency to usurp Congress’s power of the purse. I assume that when President Booker or whoever declares a national healthcare emergency to fund Medicare for all you’ll say it’s “within his power to do so.”
