Same is said about motorcycles. As a Harley dealer tech friend of mine says: “for the last 5 years new Harleys are over engineered and electronic nightmares that require hours of labor just to do a minor repair”.

If it’s the stock engine it’s a Prestolite starter. Have you tried J&P Cycle or Throttle Addiction

When it was originally built it was the most powerful stock motorcycle in the world and I think the starter was custom designed, though I could be mistaken.
I think motorcycle are designed by graphic artists. Then the engineers have to figure out make it work in accordance with the required performance specs without spoiling the art.
