Oh dear. Israel is striking targets Iran

Oh dear. Looks like things are heating up in the Middle East. Israel is apparently actively striking military targets in Iran and the explosions are being heard in the capital, Tehran.

This is retaliation for Iran’s ballistic missile strikes on Israeli territory that has occurred a few times over the past few weeks. I suppose both sides don’t want to go to full scale war over this, but the tit tat strikes will eventually make someone go a little nuts and escalate at some point.

Guess we just have to see how this all turns out.

God Bless Israel as the only country able to destroy Iran’s nuclear program and save the world from a nuclear Armageddon.

 for Israel.

They’re not going after Iran’s nuclear facilities. They’re doing military strikes in retaliation in all likelihood.

Well, they should go for the nuclear sites because Israel knows that they will be Iran’s first target, and this is the time to do it. I personally  they do it.

■■■■ 'em up, Israel! :metal:

For God’s sake. Please take out their nuke program.

Yes!!! That should be target #1. Even the Muslim countries in the region want the nukes taken out.

I really wish people understood the capabilities of the Israeli military. It’s impressive, but it’s really not what a lot of people think. They can do limited strikes in Iran. But they can’t take out Iran’s air defenses. They don’t have the capability for long term aerial refueling necessary for the kind of sustained attack it would take to truly damage Iran’s military and take out their nuclear infrastructure. Unless they used nuclear weapons. Which they won’t.

Yeah a lot of people don’t look at the logistical side of things.

Israel is very good at the tactical and operational level. But they’re limited by logistics at the strategic level.

I’m a nerd so the logistics of a military is the most fascinating part to me.

The nuclear sites (like reprocessing centers) are buried deep. Israel would have issues completely destroying them. And from a political standpoint, a half ass job is worse than not doing the job at all.

Never-has-beens wishing you people would just understand their military couch genius.

Won’t happen. More than likely they’re going after soft targets for both logistical and political reasons.

It’s a tit for tat exchange that’s been going on for months. Both sides have refrained from going too far up the escalation chain.

Exactly. We can do it, but because we have hundreds of tankers, strategic bombers, we have bases in Qatar, UAE, Jordan, Diego Garcia, and places we can use in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, ■■■■■■■ naval task forces…Israel is great, but there are limits to what they can do.

They could really ■■■■ Iran by other means if they wanted to. Namely cyber warfare. Shut down Iranian infrastructure including oil extraction systems. It’s all networked in the modern world.

That would destroy Iran as a modern state from an economic standpoint. The issue is that it would be a huge move up the escalation ladder. And I dunno if the Israeli government wants to go that far.

Well I’m watching Seans Friday show right now and he has counter terrorist experts saying that Israel has the long-range capabilities to take out Iran’s nuclear missile sites. So once again I  they do the world a favor and do it.

Their nuclear missile sites? Who is this “expert”? Roxie, really gotta remind you…Hannity’s show is not a show for news or analysis. It’s literally listed by Fox News as an entertainment show for legal purposes.

They don’t have nuclear IRBMs yet. They have ballistic missiles with conventional payloads.

Until they develop a useable nuclear warhead that’s all they will have. Once you achieve the bomb then you’ve got it forever.

And I won’t watch, but really hoping Hannity isn’t pushing the idea that they do.

I really wish people wouldn’t act like blowhards and know-it-all’s. Do you know what a bunker buster bomb is?

Yes I do. So does Iran.
