NYC Bodega Worker Charged w/ Murder

The defund the police thing, and probably the DA thing, is an Angela Davis thing.

She spoke at the local community college about 15 years ago, and the local country bumpkin newspaper praised her for her humanitarian work.

No surprise that the modern liberal politician would do this.

The mayor is defending him.

Solution to the “surge in crime”?
Grease criminals.
It’s as good a deterrent as it gets?

If he shows up at trial, he gets the money refunded anyhow.

What he should have is his lawyer fees refunded. Plus lost wages, plus anything else he lost because of this mess. And add on punitive damages to boot, all paid by the DA himself.

Uh, huh. If not attacking the source of the problem is your idea of a defense, I’d consider that a weak defense but…maybe it’s just me? :sunglasses: :tumbler_glass:

Edit…so @FloridaYankee can see what happens.

How many people do you know that have 50k in a savings account incase they get arrested? I dont know any clerk at a convenience store who has 50k in cash.

The only way he gets the bond refunded to him is if HE is the one who paid the bond. If he had to use a Bail Bondsman, the Bail Bondsman put up the 50k. The Bail Bondsman gets the money back, and the Bail Bondsman does not put up 50k because he is a nice guy. The Bail Bondsman typically charges 10% for his services, which in this case would equal 5k. That 5K he does not get back.

This is also where most of the Democrat Party is today as well.

Is it a coincidence that the OP was edited after my post? I think not LOL!

Uh, huh…and yet, no orange icon indicating an edit? :sunglasses: :tumbler_glass:

Well at least he has this going for him:

Alba, who immigrated from the Dominican Republic 30 years ago, is now locked up at Rikers Island because he was unable to post the $250,000 bail set by a Manhattan judge.

At least as a non-white immigrant the Left won’t automatically have contempt for him.

So the mayor defends the clerk but LIBZ. You guys make no sense.

…and an excellent retort. :sunglasses: :tumbler_glass:

Am I missing something? I did not edit the OP after posting.

The Koreans have a saying “pyong jugu, yak jugu” which translates to “You make me sick, then you give me medicine”

They tell me the mayor of NY is similar to a governor in any other state. If he had that much support for Alba, he could have had the city of NY post his bail. There is not a doubt in my mind that he could have pulled that off. Instead just like most other politicians, he creates a problem and then tries to shift the blame to someone else all the while he has the ability to correct the issue, but chooses not to.

Me thinks the Hispanic communities in NYC will accept nothing less than a full acquittal for Mr. Alba. Where is the self-proclaimed Puerto Rican goddess Madam AOC? Or is this too “racist” to get involved in? Hispanic store owner defends himself from (B)lack man trying to injure and perhaps rob him and stabs the criminal during the process; criminal subsequently dies.
The NYC Police Commissioner and the Mayor should have appeared at Mr. Alba’s arraignment and looked the prosecutor in the eye and said “this guy fought back; he’s innocent”.

The city cannot under any circumstances post bail for citizens. That’s insane.

Not buying it. There are so many different ways for politicians to come up with money. 50k is nothing. The mayor could have paid his bail out of campaign funds and wrote it off as a campaign expense. Had he done that, every hispanic person in NY would vote for him in all future elections.

Alba isn’t at Rikers, this is old news.
