I may be wrong but what is stopping retired intelligence officers/agents etc getting involved in politics when they retire?

Democrats paid for Hillary’s dossier…then used their work product to slander a duly elected president. Democrats produced a document lying about hunters laptop…at the same time standing in the way of an investigation of hunters misdeeds and lying about it to congress.

Makes people wonder what else those 51 retired officers and agents have lied about while still working and in retirement.
I seem to remember you carrying on how a SC justice should not do things normal people do because it might not be illegal, but it looks bad.
When you have 51 retired officers and agents willing to lie about something to fool the voters into voting for the man they want elected it looks more than bad. You could even call it election interference.

No I said ALL SC justices should abide by a rigorous code of ethics and avoid even the appearance of impropriety. I never said Thomas did anything wrong nor did I say he should be removed. I even stated that I dont think the gifts from his friend influenced any decision he made just that he should have reported it. Please dont misrepresent what I said.
SC justices are not private citizens in the same way me and you are. They hold one of the most important positions in the Republic. If they do not want their finances under scrutiny they do not have to accept the nomination or can resign.
The intelligence officers now that they are retired are private citizens just like me and you and Just a like a SC Justice is when they retire from the bench.
Funny I did not say you said he should be removed or did anything wrong. I said you said it looked bad.
Ex agents and officers are not ordinary citizens either. They have connections to DC as we have been shown by their actions to influence an election by lying for their man. If they don’t want their actions under scrutiny, they should leave politics alone. If they don’t and are caught doing shady things, they certainly need to be exposed to the public.
Your president is a liar and a crook. He is being exposed little by little and you are doing what you accuse trump supporters of doing. You are defending his crooked ways and the people doing his bidding.
The 50 haven’t broken any “laws”, but their credibility and integrity are now in question. As such, they no longer meet the qualifications of any position of trust and responsibility with the government. That includes holding a security clearance and being assigned to any organization, government or civilian, working with classified information. What should happen is their security clearances should be permanently revoked, barring them from any future activity requiring a security clearance. Any input to national defense from them is now suspect, and should not be considered.

But it is what should happen. And if the same individuals had done the same thing to support a Republican candidate I would say the same thing. They can’t be trusted to put the truth before political ideology.

Slow day by day it is becoming apparent that there is something rotten in the DOJ. People talk about Watergate like it was the worst thing to ever happen. What is being exposed in the DOJ is worse and people are waving their hands saying nothing to see here move along. When they should be saying what the heck these people need to be exposed and fired and there needs to be more oversite into what the DOJ is doing.

As far as political corruption goes, it’s just back to the good old days of J Edgar, when federal law enforcement targeted political enemies. ie… those with what ever viewpoint didn’t set right with said law enforcement.

I don’t recall one single post by a liberal Dem in this forum condemning the DNC for its involvement in the fake dossier, including their keeping their involvement hidden for over a year. This after years of memes about Trump and Putin.
Indeed, some still cling to this after any hint of evidence is gone.

The scariest part is that so many retired leaders would sell out for one side so easily. That has to tell us something about the employees remaining in those agencies. The one those retired people worked with and promoted to their current positions.
