Hey Mr. Peterson, Jack Frost nipping at your nose?"
“Yep. Now let’s get Joe Beer nipping at my liver, huh?”
Rest in peace Mr Wendt. Truly.

Norm!!
By all accounts a nice guy.
“It’s a dog eat dog world and I’m wearing milk bone boxers!”
He’s gone to where everybody knows your name.
Where Norm went they’ll always be glad he came.
He’ll be where he can see,
Their lack of troubles are all the same
He’s gonna be where everybody knows his name.
“Hey Norm, how’s life treatin’ ya?”
“Like a baby treats its diapers.”
Some actors trigger pleasant memories when you think of their character in shows. His portrayal of Norm is one of those characters.
Weirdly enough I’ve never seen cheers. I’ve seen him in a few other things and he always gave a great performance no matter the role.
I went through his filmography and I’m a bit surprised he was never a guest star on any Star Trek shows or movies. Most of the Cheers cast did at least one Star Trek movie or tv episode; it’s almost a trope at this point. Hell Yesterday’s Enterprise, one of the best episodes of TNG, had like two Cheers actors in it as guest characters. And Kirstie Alley was a standout as Saviik on the Wrath of Khan. It’s always been depressing to me that her schedule never allowed her to keep playing the character on future Star Trek movies.
Based on his physical appearance in the 90s, he would have made a great older Klingon or Cardassian character.
“‘I love that stool. If there’s a heaven, I don’t wanna go there unless my stool is waiting for me.”
RIP Norm. I think I watched about every episode of Cheers growing up.
“Can I pour you a beer, Mr. Peterson?”
“A little early, isn’t it, Woody?”
“For a beer?”
“No, for stupid questions.”
