President Trump informed Congressional leaders Friday that he will not sign a “moderate” immigration bill slowly making its way towards his desk; repeating his demand that any legislation dealing with DACA must include border wall funding.
According to Reuters, the Commander-in-Chief confirmed Friday morning that he has no intention of signing the “moderate” bill, saying he needs a “bill that gives this country tremendous border security. I have to have that.”
“I’m looking at both of them. I certainly wouldn’t sign the more moderate one,” he added.
The proposed legislation would allow nearly 2 million ‘Dreamers’ to apply for a temporary “non-immigrant” status that would allow them to continue to reside in the United States, and would also allocate $25 billion for unspecified “border security.”
Trump has repeatedly told Congressional leaders from both parties that any DACA deal must fully fund his signature campaign promise: a physical wall on the United States’ southern border with Mexico.
