New indictment in election collusion case

Haitian-American rapper Prakazrel “Pras” Michel, 46, and Jho Low, 37, were accused of conspiracy and other charges in the four-count indictment unsealed on Friday. . .The indictment alleges that between June and November 2012, Low transferred $21.6m to Michel “for the purpose of funnelling significant sums of money into the United States presidential election”.

The indictment alleges that illegal foreign funds were used to support President Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign. While Jho Low is from Malaysia he appears to be of Chinese descent and reportedly now in China. Jho Low - Wikipedia

Yawn from most of the media.

Of course there is the highly suspicious billion-dollar-plus deal that Joe Biden’s son reportedly arranged with the Chinese government in 2013:

In December of 2013, Vice President Biden and his son Hunter flew aboard Air Force Two to China. Ten days after the trip, a subsidiary of the Bank of China named Bohai Capital signed an exclusive deal with Hunter Biden’s firm to form a $1 billion joint-investment fund called Bohai Harvest RST. The deal was later increased to $1.5 billion.

Can you imagine the non-stop coverage from CNN if someone in Trump’s family had negotiated a similar deal with a Russian government agency immediately after a state visit?

After spending over $30 million on the Mueller investigation and countless hours of air-time, the alleged Trump-Russian collusion has proven to be a thoroughly debunked conspiracy theory. Yet actual indictments and glaringly suspicious “coincidences” are virtually ignored when they involve Democrats.

Are mainstream news organizations really fake news?

Or are they just blinded by their own biases?

Most MSM agencies are sold out to globalist interests to control news narratives to make the population believe we need globalism to fix the planets problems and nationalism is tribalism is bad.

Politicians and their supporters who are on the globalist train get excused by the MSM, while politicians and their supporters who are opposing globalism get lied about, demonised, ridiculed and censored. But that’s OK, apparently, because they are privately owned companies.

Yes, media outlets are private entities and are covered under the First Amendment.

On the other hand, internet companies such as Google and Facebook claim exemption for liability for libel laws because they are simply open platforms. At the same time they have near monopolies and censor speech that they disagree with.

If they are really public accommodations how can that censor speech based on political point of view?

Should they face anti-trust action to break their arbitrary control?

Is this going to be one of those threads where the claim is made that the MSM is ignoring this and then tons of links of the MSM covering it for months is going to posted?

Yes, they should. Or else be as liable as Fox or CNN to libel and defamation suits.

Who do you believe here knows the future, Jezcoe?

Here is the New York Times covering this story.

Well… the NYPOST article is from the guy who wrote “Clinton Cash” and pushed the Uranium One nonsense.

Go ahead… keep stepping on rakes.

Honestly it doesn’t matter… we will end up debating reality.

Presumably someone in the Obama campaign received the money and failed to declare it. It will be interesting to discover how high up the party hierarchy and to whom this illegal donation was known but not flagged to the appropriate authorities.

Lock him up. Lets investigate and get to the bottom of this. The people have the right to know that their president is not a crook.

I could not find the story on the CNN site.

The Times story is buried near the bottom of Google News in the US section.

If this story involved a Republican it would be the top story.

How much air time is it getting on CNN?

If this case involved a Republican it would be breathlessly reported round the clock.

I don’t watch cable news, so I really have no idea how much it’s being covered on television.

It’s not as big of a deal as someone working with the campaign knowingly taking foreign money. It’s about the same as how we now know that the NRA was accepting foreign money and using it to elect Donald Trump in 2016. That’s really not trending in the news cycle either. It was reported on, but it’s not being reported on round the clock, like you assume this case should be.

I see it’s being investigated by the FBI, to see whether any of the money received from Russia went toward the Trump campaign. I’ll be interested in their findings.

Anyone, Democrat or Republican, who conspires to inject foreign money into U.S. elections should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. This shouldn’t be a partisan issue.

Agreed.

From the Guardian article you posted…

The indictment alleges that between June and November 2012, Low transferred $21.6m to Michel “for the purpose of funnelling significant sums of money into the United States presidential election”.

Michel allegedly paid about $865,000 to about 20 “straw donors” so they could make donations in their names to a presidential joint fundraising committee.

More than $1m was allegedly funnelled to an independent committee also involved in the election.

“The object of the conspiracy was for Michel and Jho Low to gain access to, and potential influence with, Candidate A and his administration, by secretly funnelling foreign money from Jho Low through Michel,” the indictment said.

“To gain further access to and influence with Candidate A and his administration, Jho Low attended or arranged for his associates to attend events at the White House with Candidate A,” the indictment said.

It is illegal for foreign nationals to contribute to US election campaigns.

According to the indictment, Michel and Low concealed their scheme from Obama and his campaign.

Disastrous thread fail. Wow.
