I don’t expect to get the appointments I would want from this administration. Elections have consequences. Having said that, Kevin Warsh is certainly among the best options I expected from Trump. He’s an experienced Fed board member with a track record that speaks to stability and he seems to highly value Fed independence. A damn good choice all things considered.
The next interesting question will be whether Powell sticks around on the board after Warsh’s appointment.
If you read what he wrote, he said The Times and The Atlantic had said those things. The use of ‘when even so and so says something you know it’s bad’ and then posts what they said, that is speaking about that person, and that person only, not the other two examples listed.
Well perhaps the part you’ll like best is that he’s not an economist by education His terminal degree is in law and his undergrad degree was sort of econ-adjacent.
