New Bipartisan immigration bill

I like the direction. Have to see the particulars, but this seems acceptable as an idea.

  1. border security
  2. no citizenship
  3. no cost to taxpayers
  4. no public assistance
  5. require e-verify

I’d be happier if it also increased fines for those who hire illegals and imposed mandatory sentences for reentry that could only be suspended on voluntary self deportation.

If it closes the asylum claim loophole, I’m down.

If they are working and paying taxes this seems excessive.

The immigrants would pay restitution and check in regularly with the Department of Homeland Security, and their legal status could be renewed based on good conduct and restitution.

yes, yes, we know you all want them to have no consequences…

NO

and I’d be happier if it excluded them from refundable tax credits

I don’t think extorting money from people willing to do low wage jobs Americans won’t do is a good plan.

LOL… extorting.

Is that what the judgements against trump do?

Price of admittance. don’t like it, too bad.

Consequences must be had.

Punching down isn’t a good look. It’s a misdemeanor. $50 fine should cover it.

do we jail the poor when they break the law?

Consequences must be had.

It’s a great idea, and it clearly triggers libs who don’t even have brown friends. What’s not to like?

apparently asking law breakers to pay a restitution to fund the program which allows them to stay is a bridge too far for some.

I mooted the no citizenship clause multiile times on this forum and I was shot down :frowning::cry: but anyhoo this bill is definitely a step in the right direction.

For those of you concerned about including them in census counts and the impact to congress then just exclude all of us who have permanent residency but not citizenship in the population counts that determine the apportionment of seats.

Some of these libs would fail miserably as an independent contractor, and it really shows.

Aren’t you legally allowed to vote?

I see it as a step in the right direction. It acknowledges the impracticality of trying to deport everyone, while continuing to discourage others from coming illegally. I especially like the E-Verify requirement.

Lke I said, it’s a misdemeanor. $50 fine should cover it.

once legal, you count. I have no issue with that. I have also pushed the NEVER citizenship idea to the same effect. Leftists wrongly think not getting rewarded is punishment. Its not, its just not getting rewarded.

No. Restitution should be much higher than that. Unless the value you place on being here is that low.

No because I am not yet a citizen.

I have a green card and permanent resident status.
